Two years ago, the glow of Downtown Decatur’s Brick Store Pub provided a warm backdrop to an inaugural Nurse a Cocktail event hosted by 250 East Ponce. Among the mingling crowd of young professionals and students was Maggie Johnson, a PhD student in Emory’s Nursing Program. On the other side of the room stood Nathan Faucett, a software engineer at Utility.

Neither of them expected the evening to be life changing. However, one thing led to another, and here we are, two years later, a married couple.

This past November, Nathan and Maggie returned to the most recent Nurse a Cocktail event — not as strangers hoping to make connections, but as newlyweds. Their story had come full circle, a testament to the unexpected ways community events can create lasting bonds.

“This event was where it all began, and being here again felt like a way to celebrate our journey,” says Maggie.

“These events are about bringing people together, whether for professional networking or just to enjoy good conversation. For us, it turned into something much more,” Nathan agreed.

As they look ahead, Nathan and Maggie remain grateful to the 250 East Ponce community for being the backdrop to their love story. The couple now hopes to inspire others to attend events like Nurse a Cocktail, not just for the connections they may form professionally but for the surprises that can transform lives.

Stay tuned for announcements of our next Ponce event!
